There are also companies that promise you business grants. Beware of them, especially if they tell you that you should pay first for some service fees. One of the biggest red flag for a scam would be companies asking for a small fee for something that they would be giving you for free.

If you really want to get a home business grant service, it is best that you research the company. You can check out if there are complaints posted against them in the Better Business Bureau. In this way, you can be sure that the company you are working with is for real.

Additionally, ignore people that claim to be working for the government and offer you a grant or some assistance in getting one. Receiving a grant that you never applied for is one sign of trouble.

There are scam tactics that offer information packages. They basically ask you for a fee of $40-$50. In exchange they will give you a packet containing information about how you could write a business grant proposal. They will give you a customized list of various organizations that can provide the grant which you need. The truth is, you do not need special information just to learn how to write a proposal. Additionally, paying for such kind of info is a no-no.

Perfect Promises

If the organization that you are working with keeps on promising you that you will get a grant, it is recommended that you find another organization to work with. Too good to be true promises and 101% success guarantees are another one of the red flags you should watch out for in relation to scams.

What To Do?

If you have ever experienced being ripped-off by scams like these, there are several ways that you could get back what you have lost.

One option would be going to your bank and reporting to them that you were scammed in the specific transaction that you just made. However, be sure that you report the activity within 60 days. Do not delay. Tell them that you want to file a dispute against the organization. If your bank acts lazily on it, demand their assistance. You have this right in accordance to Federal Regulation E.

If you have made the transaction with your credit card, then likewise, report the fraudulent activity to your credit card company. They can assist you with getting your money back too.
