Since there are so many methods available in search engine optimization or <a href="http://[token]category/seo-step-by-step"target="_blank"title="SEO" >SEO, webmasters have categorized these as either white hat SEO or black hat SEO. Certain SEO tactics are not accepted by certain popular search engines, but some individuals still use these to hopefully get the <a href="http://[token]category/website-traffic-secrets"target="_blank"title="traffic" >traffic they need. You have to know about the controversies surrounding the approaches and determine whether you should go with either one.

Describing Both

White hat SEO is the term used to describe methods that follow the guidelines and stipulations of search engines. Black hat SEO is the term used to describe approaches that are disapproved by search engines. There is an ongoing battle between individuals who use white hat and black hat SEO. Black hat SEO may not be what you can immediately consider as negative ethically. SERPs may be manipulated by black hat practitioners, but they also say that the approaches are highly acceptable with the sole intent of boosting site rankings.

Black hatters also say that there is no good or bad in trying to achieve the same goal of making their site relevant and ranked high. The benefits can extend to the users as they seek for the most useful information. Some big search engines do allow a number of web sites to function opposite to the stated rules.

Accepted Methods

Cloaking is one of the allowed black hat methods that a lot of webmasters use. A cloaking policy may be enforced by big search engines, but still needs updating to fully become consistent. The cloaking method is accepted by the search engines, since it does improve user searches instead of provide them with just any kind of result. Cloaking cannot immediately be referred to as a negative influence, considering that it aids searchers in getting the information and web sites that they need.

Following the Rules

There are a number of methods that you should avoid if you want to rank high and get on search engines’ good side. Invisible text should be avoided. Do not place light yellow or white text against a white background. Engines can detect these and will only put you in more trouble. Avoid keyword stuffing. In the past, overstuffing articles and site content with the same keyword may help improve ranking, but search engines are smarter now and can determine if your content is natural or no longer of good quality.

What to Avoid

An automated robot visits every page in the index. The content is acquired to be analyzed at a later time. Cloaking involves giving the automated robot a different page, while assigning a completely new one to human users. Search engines greatly detest this practice. You should also stay away from doorway pages. Doorway pages are described as trying to create a page to rank high on search engines, but truly having no real good content. Orphaned pages may also be considered as doorway pages by search engines. The site or page can incur penalties by having these.

Stay away from spamming. Spam is described as useless pages having no content and is just created to rank high on search engines. You initially think that you have good and sound content upon clicking on a page, only to discover several listings and ads to other sites. This is highly related to doorway pages and should be avoided.

People keep asking how do you research for a niche, when you know nothing about the site. The normal answer given is go to EZA or another article directory, put in your keywords, and then use the articles that are shown in the search.

What are the problems with doing research this way?

When you read them, you have no way in knowing if the information is accurate or not.

Just because the article has been approved, doesn’t mean that the information is correct.

Articles seem to be the new version of Chinese whispers, where someone reads something, and then puts their own thoughts to it, and the end result is that the information is inaccurate.

An example of this.

Someone wrote a book on copyright law. Now that information is easy to find out, because you have the government sites to check the legal figures and law on copyright.

They didn’t, they used the data found in a number of articles, and what they saw as an authority site, which were basically sites which had only content from article directories.

When pointed out that the information they gave was different to the actual copyright sites, they argued, their information had to be right, because it came from EZA.

See the problem?

When you are entering a new niche, either writing for yourself or someone else, you should always check the authority sites for you basic information.

Check the article directories to see what people have written but don’t use that information, unless you know it is accurate.

What makes an authority site? I am not talking about a site that is ranked high in Google because of the number of pages they have, or the fact that they have done their <a href="http://[token]category/seo-step-by-step"target="_blank"title="SEO" >SEO. I am talking about sites that know their subject.

Let’s look at some of these authority sites.

If you were asked to write an alcohol, then which sites are the best to get information on? The brewers would be the best sites. They will have many pages on their history, as well as their brewing process.

What about chocolate, how about those companies that make chocolate, again they know their product.

Health is a topic that people avoid because they don’t want to be sued for misinformation. We use 2 major sites, the NHS in the UK and the offical government health site in the US. Both are great starting points to discover basic information about any health related topic.

What about a product, then go to the manufacturers website. Again, dig deep on their sites, to find out what is going on. Follow through for press releases, find those hidden gems that most are missing.

Use this information as the basis of your research, and then write from a position of strength because you have done your research.

Alright before we begin doing some <a href="http://[token]category/seo-step-by-step"target="_blank"title="SEO" >SEO on your blog site here are some rules to follow:
1. Ensure your content of your blog is on the left side
2. Ensure you have install one SEO plugin on your Wordpress Blog (Headspace2 is recommended)
3. You need to tweak your blog theme titles to have a H1 tags

Next you need to start looking for keyword you would love to be ranked high in Google. You can use free tools like Worktracker to find your keywords you like to ranked high for and start compiling a list of your top 20 similar words you like to be ranked high.

Do note, you do not ranked high for keyword which you think no one will search on and does not make sense to your own niche. Most often people who attempt to ranked words in Google get really bad results because the keyword they get ranked high at most times are useless clicks. Imagine yourself getting ranked high for the keyword “Free Adwords”, if you think about it all the freebies goers will start going to your site and you will not be able to monetized much out of them because your customer clicks have the wrong mindset of “FREE”.

So for example if I pick a keyword “Small Home <a href="http://[token]manage-money/manage-money-in-business.html"target="_blank"title="business" >Business” and decided to ranked high for it what must you do on your blog to optimize it high up in Google.

Tip #1 – Insert The Keyword At Least Once In The Title Of The Post

For example, my blog title will start off like this “5 Tips On Starting Small Home Business”.

Tip #2 – Insert The Keyword In The First 30 Words Of Your Blog Post

When you start writing your article in your blog post, always try to have the keyword located in the first 30 words of your blog post. For example, here is how I would start my article “To start a small home business, you would first need…”.

Tip #3 – Repeatedly Try To Keep On Writing Articles With The Keyword In Them

In the next blog post, you would try again to find a reason to put the keyword in the title again. For example you can have another title that goes like this “Is Starting A Small Home Business Good?”

Tip #4 – Ensure You Submit Your Sitemap To Google

For some reason and experiments I have tried numerous times because you are running a blog and you update your blog post often with great content with your “selected” keyword you are targeting the chances you will get ranked high would be there.

Tip #5 – Ask Your Readers To Give You A Backlink

Instead of you going around the whole internet begging people to give you a link back, what you can do instead is to ask your readers on your blog to link back to your blog site with the keyword “Small Home Business” and basically what you will do is you do a link back to their blog. If you do not like to link to people afraid that it will affect your rankings, what you can do instead is to offer some form of reward for linking back to your blog site.

Meta Tags or Title Tags are important to customize for your home page AND each inner page of your website/blog.
Meta Tags are HTML codes that are inserted into the header on a web page. Meta Tags basically describe the website and give search engines a glimpse as to what your website is about. Fortunately, most good website builders allow you to fill in the Meta information in English and the Meta tag is created automatically in HTML. The Meta Tag is also the Title Tag of the site or in code which gives a lot of relevancy to Google of what your site is about, so it is crucial that the keywords are in it.

Another important benefit of Meta Tags is in allowing you control of how your website presents in search results for the attributes within Meta Tags of Title and Description. This way you have every opportunity to create interesting, relevant and clickable titles and descriptions that can greatly help your <a href="http://[token]category/internet-marketing"target="_blank"title="internet marketing" >Internet marketing efforts.

DO NOT leave this to chance, if you do, the search engines will probably just pull the first lines of text on that web page and that is what will show up in the SERPS.

Meta Tag Optimization Attributes:
A. Meta Title - By far the most important tag is the title tag and it must have your
keywords, and the keywords should be at the beginning of the title. Also the title should be interesting because this is what searchers will see in the results and so you want the titles to be eye-catching, clickable and most important to the point! Be direct, searchers are looking for something specific, so give it to them.

Meta Title vs. On-Page Title
On Page Title is the one the visitor sees on your page, such as the title of a blog post or inner web page. The Meta Title is the title in the Meta Tags that the search engines will look to for the SERPS. The Meta Title is the one that shows up in your web browser tabs as shown in the image below.

So, you can make the title the visitor sees longer and more detailed if you wish, while still including your keywords, but the Meta title can be shortened to comply with Meta Tag character standards and to zone in on keywords, but make sure it is still attractive to get the click from searchers.

Meta Description – Description should be no more than 165 characters. The
description should include your keywords at the beginning and elaborate on what you
offer. Once again, this is your chance to get a click-through, be precise and get to the
point of what you are offering as related to your title keywords. Make it eye-catching and
interesting.

3. Meta Keywords - Least important because whatever keyword you want to rank for
and have Google relate to your site to is best achieved through keyword density within content and backlink anchor text. However, there are some search engines that do crawl 8 Step Checklist for On-Site <a href="http://[token]category/seo-step-by-step"target="_blank"title="SEO" >SEO – JR’s Internet Marketing Strategies and utilize your keywords in the Meta Tags and you should still add them as suggestions for Google, it can’t hurt.

Meta Tag Generator Tools
Static Websites – As I stated before, many website builders will have the Meta Tags area where you can enter your information in English and have the HTML code automatically generated for you. You can also check out Meta Tag Builder and Site-Up MetaTags.
